VirnetX Holding, an internet security software and technology company, has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a new patents for VirnetX's network protocol for enabling secure communications using secure domain names. VirnetX's Secure Domain Name functionality is used to enable various types of communications that use encyrption to protect data, such as encrypted communication channels or links, secure communication links and virtual private network communication links.
Officially granted on 2 December, US Patent No. 8,904,516, System And Method Employing An Agile Network Protocol For Secure Communications Using Secure Domain Names, is the fourteenth patent granted to VirnetX in 2014 and was awarded to three of the current members of VirnetX's R&D team, Dr. Victor Larsen, Dr. Robert Dunham Short, III and Michael Williamson.
